I just had to post this Pulse Junior drum kit just for its coolness factor. I wish I would have had something like this when I was a kid. Drum set would be good for the aspiring, young drummer. Possible greatest kid present ever?.. It’s pretty affordable. Hardware and components look decent as well. Should hold up to some abuse that will inevitably come from a youngster. Need a gift idea? This is it.

Balanced and carefully crafted using hand-selected white oak. Grown in the mountainous regions of Japan, this particular species of oak is a harder wood than hickory and will take more wear, tear, and punishment. It resists chipping and wearing soft. Made with Pro-Mark's exclusive Millennium II manufacturing process, each stick is hand-finished and hand-inspected. The result is a strength and durability no other stick can match.

Pro Mark makes great sticks. They have years of experience and are always on the cutting edge of design. These sticks are long lasting , have a great feel, are balanced well and come in a wide, wide selection of different sizes, including the more popular sizes in nylon and standard wood tips. Although my favorite sticks are Vic Firth, I’ve had many pairs of Pro-Marks and have been quite happy with them as well.
I’ve had the chance to play on some Gretsch drums…They have great sound and are well built. They’re an iconic name for older 60′s music and Jazz….but definitely not limited to those genres. Ball and shock mounts hold the toms on steady, Maple shells give a rich tone. I love 16″ floor toms, nice, deep sound. This drum set, I’m sure, will please.

Click here to view the embedded video.

I hope you can glean some information from these videos. Careful drum tuning is the core of a drummer’s arsenal to achieving a great sound that both listeners and the player will enjoy. There are a lot of drum tuning videos out there and it’s up to each drummer to find his or her personal sound.

Don’t skimp on time when tuning your drums. Pay careful attention to each step in regards to seating the head and properly tightening the lugs. Anyone can achieve great sound with a little drum tuning practice.

I personally tune my drums and use these tuning techniques often to keep the sound in top shape. If my drums don’t sound good, I’m actually less excited to play. It’s a mental thing….I don’t know. There’s nothing like hearing a great ringing tone come out of a drum head when you’ve hit the “sweet spot” after a drum tuning session.

There are different drum tuning techniques for different styles of playing like rock, fusion, jazz, etc. Head choice will determine how you tune as well. There are lots of drum tuning techniques to choose from out there.

Good luck and enjoy the never-ending drum tuning journey.

Roland’s V-Drums are the most popular electronic drums in the world, but not everyone has the room or budget for a full V-Drums kit. Introducing the Roland HD-1. The HD-1 electronic drum set is also conveniently compact and stylish-perfect for every home, school, studio, etc.-and it’s priced for drummers on a tight budget. Most of the Roland HD-1′s components are mounted on one stand for easy setup, transport, and a clean look. Roland quality is at the top of the pack when it comes to electron drum sets. This one gives you all of the benefits of the great Roland name and technology in a packaged version. This set would be great for practices where lugging the equipment around can get tedious. You would just need to buy an amp for it. I personally love Roland drums. They sound great and they’re well built.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Again, I’ve had the chance to play Roland drumsets and love them. The feel is great, the different drum types that are programmed in sound awesome. Although I haven’t had any personal experience with this set, I’m sure it’s top notch just judging by the lower end models I’ve played. Roland sets the standard in electronic drums.
Great intermediate bass drum pedal from Pearl that is standard equipment on Pearl’s Export Series drumsets. The beater is heavy duty and adjustable for great action. Has a single chain for drive and the cam is very responsive. It follows the eliminator styling. Great price point for those who don’t want to spend a lot.

Great Cymbal pack from Zildjian for those drummers who are on a budget. Finish is beautiful which includes a cool divited brilliant surface. Great cymbal for Harder playing including rock, punk, etc. Bell of cymbals seem a little small. You should definitely be able to pound on these cymbals and cut through the other band sound going on around you. It’s a good deal with the free crash that’s included.
Vic Firth sticks are rugged. I’ve personally tried many different stick types and brands over 20 years of playing and I always seem to come back to Vic Firth. This 3 pack seems to be a good deal for a great stick. They offer a wide variety of sizes from the jazz drummer to hard rock drummer. Tip shape is great and gives good articulation and controls the sound when hitting cymbals and playing different dynamics. Drum sticks are a personal thing and need to be considered heavily. My advice is to try different styles in different lengths and weights to find the stick that suits you best.
